Super interesting concept for a serial killer book. I did enjoy this book but felt at times it lacked detail to keep my interested fully.

I guess I was expecting something different based on the blurb on the back of the book than what I got. The writing is great. It's very descriptive, but the story was a bit too silly for me. I was expecting some silliness because a story about a serial killer obsessed with As Seen On TV products is bound to be slightly silly, but this was over-the-top, Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare kind of silly. I can suspend disbelief only so far.

Also, I kinda wanted more killing and less wrestling with inner demons.

If you like ridiculous to the extreme type of horror, then this is for you. If you're not sure if you would like it, I would definitely recommend this book to see if you do. It's short and well written.

Interesting, yet somewhat plodding, look into the mind of a serial killer, as well as what...or who...makes him kill.

"I want to make this fun."

As Seen on TV was my introduction to John Wayne Comunale, and I love his creativity. This is a really fun idea about a serial killer who is obsessed with As Seen on TV products (and sometimes utilizes them in his murders).

It sounds awesome, but I think I had different expectations for the book based on the synopsis. I thought it was going to be more focused on the killings and products (which was what I wanted), but it ended up being much more focused on Artie's inner turmoil and odd relationship with his neighbor. It wasn't anywhere near as gruesome as I thought it would be, and it felt sort of anti-climactic overall. There was a pretty slow start, and then I ended up not loving the direction it went in.

I really loved the idea of this story, but didn't really connect with the execution. It wasn't a bad book at all, but I didn't enjoy my time with it that much. I would still try another book from this author, though.

Comunale certainly has a way with words and worlds that makes my skin crawl. As a horror fan, this is a good thing. I really did have fun with this read, it was even better discussing this with the two friends I read this with.

A serial killer obsessed with As Seen On TV products? Yes, please. I liked what the author did with this idea. Around the halfway point I lost the thread a little. The story takes a turn and the lines of reality blur and I just got a little uninvested. The writing and descriptions are good, but by the end the script had been "flipped" too many times and I was lost and pulled out the story a bit.

I will definitely read more from Comunale. He is a unique writer that seems to tackle bizarre topics and I am here for that.
