It's exciting for sure, but it's not that great.
To quote Doyle himself: “If in 100 years I am only known as the man who invented Sherlock Holmes, then I will have considered my life a failure.”
Awkward.

Look out! There's a Pterodactyl loose in London! This was as good as reading a comic book, or what I would imagine a comic book to be like anyway. Action all the way, fast forwarding through the boring parts, punchy descriptive words- no way of getting bored with this one.
I enjoyed the fact that Doyle carried on with the Sherlockian logic in his other writing. When returning to an empty ransacked camp, our young reporter uses some classic deductive reasoning Mr. Holmes would have been proud of. To me, it is more than just common sense, but really takes a brain that works differently.
I also liked what, to me, was comic relief because I can hear the words being spoken in a particular manner: "You take very great liberties! I've never been so insulted in my life." (Can I hear myself saying that to the snotty person sitting behind the counter at the cable company?) "Our young friend makes up for many obvious mental lacunae by some measure of primitive common sense." "Get up, little chappie, and take your face off my boots." Well, it's just that bit of condescension that on certain occasions I wish my vocabulary and nerve would allow me to employ.

I think this is the first classic I've read since high school, and I really enjoyed it! The cover was what drew me in, and I jumped at the opportunity to read about dinosaurs. The narrator's perspective was very well written, although the voice and opinions of the characters are definitely from another time. Very enjoyable story, highly recommend.
P.S. It's free to check out through Amazon so that's always a plus :)

Книгата щеше да е страхотна от-до ако не присъстваше Гладис, която някак си успя с мижавото си присъствие от около 5 страници да ми стане противна. Сериозно, f*ck her.
I liked bits of it. Other bits were painfully racist and sexist. The ending was better than I expected.
This was a lot better than I thought it would be! It was interesting and fun. I hated the romance thing from the get go. I mean, dude, she said she wasn’t interested. But whatever.

In which a man refuses to take no for an answer when he proposes to his beloved lady, so poor lady has to send him away to The Lost World with dinosaurs and apemen to get away from him.
This book was good just not great. I enjoyed the adventure parts, which seemed few and far between. The narrator of the story was pretty boring and naive. I thought Challenger was a great character, in an over the top arrogant sort of way. Overall I enjoyed the story just nothing that really wowed me.
