This well imagined page turner had me engrossed. I’m glad I got the chance to see what the pre-Roe world might have been like, for we have returned to it. A terrifying thought, but I’ll never, ever discount women. We are Resilient, and all the Janes and their friends, all the authentically painted women in this book, with their own cares and ideals, reminded me of that. Well Done!! Definitely a must read.

Urgent and Deeply Felt!

1. Writing sounded like a Chicago tourist pretending they lived in Chicago. Odd
2. I know that some parts meant well but execution was not there

Wouldn’t read again

First, I want to state that my review does not negate the relevance and importance of a book such as All You Have To Do Is Call. I am immensely grateful that Kerri Maher told the story of the Jane Network, as I had no idea of its existence. What an inspiration these six are! My biggest complaint is that the book moved too slowly for me. I stopped. I started. I stopped. I restarted... I wanted to feel more urgency as I read, as the overturning of Roe v. Wade has reignited passionate feelings across the country. I wanted the book to land a powerful punch! And even though it didn't for me, it is important enough of an issue that I will recommend it to others.

Here is what was done very well, in my opinion. Maher presented several different female personalities-woman with varying degrees of education, from different socio-economic situations, married, single, conservative, liberal, and of all races. The issue of abortion affects all women whether we realize it or not. I liked how everyone came together despite their differences to support, strengthen, and learn from one another.

Thanks to BookBrowse and Net Galley for an advanced reader copy.

I saw a friend was reading this book so I decided to read it too. With everything happening in the news recently, this book felt relevant very relevant. The book takes place during the early 70s and depicted what feminism worked like back then. The topic of focus is abortion. Maher did a really great job crafting historical fiction novel. I hope more people pick this book up to read, it’s really captivating.

I picked this up after reading, and loving, another book about the Jane Network. Unfortunately for this one, the other one set the bar very high to read this after. The story and characters felt second to the message. This very well may have been then intention but I prefer the opposite approach- make me care about the message by bringing it to light via empathy for the characters involved. I did not get that with this book.
