There Is No Devil

➜ hero - Cole is a sociopath with very strong selfish attributes, he never once stops worshiping the ground that Mara walks on. Cole is very smart and he doesn't like things that he can't control and he will do anything in his power to keep her safe even kill for her. Cole is a very dark and twisted human being who also has another serial killer on his tail with Alastor and these two people are about to go head to head and we will see who the smarter of them is

➜ heroine - Mara has evolved throughout these two books, fulling examining the darkness within herself and figuring out who she really is. Mara remains a super interesting female lead to me.Mara was full of internal scars and just surviving but then Cole came along and she realized that there’s more to life than just surviving and seeing other people succeed. Cole showed her that she also had everything in her to be like the others, she could live her dream and be untouchable.

➜ overall review - Mara and Cole both grew throughout this book, understanding more and more that they are better together.Highly recommend this duet if you are a dark romance reader. It was so different to other things I’ve read that it was mesmerising in its entertainment and depth of feeling. Overall, really enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone looking for a darker, psychological thriller.

loved this book!!

OBSESSED with this duet and will probably reread it 10000 times! Sophie Lark knows how to write the best books!

Good story. I didn’t like it as much as the first one, but I still enjoyed it. It dragged out a little too long and there was too much of the side stories in my opinion. I think you could leave like 100 pages in between our and you wouldn’t even miss them in the story. The ending was strong tho, I really enjoyed that.
dark tense medium-paced

Vielleicht ist es gut, dass ich den ersten Teil gefühlt vergessen hab

As expected, 5 star read ⭐️

Honestly the book by itself, maybe a 4.5 but it’s a 5/5 duology for sure. If Mara has one fan, it’s me. If she has no fans, I’m dead. Literally in love I don’t care what anyone says. I’m ready to re-read this already tbh.

I would say that this book was a little dragged out, but still good. The plot twists were entertaining. Definitely read the trigger warnings.

I have no idea if my lowered expectations made this more tolerable or not.
