This is a really sweet, heart-wrenching read and I really liked it.

This starts off intoducing us to Tenleigh and her life, her family. Then we meet Kyland and Tenleigh meets Kyland and they find out they're both running to win the same scholarship and only one of them will win. And I was really afraid of reading it because I didn't like the idea of this competition thing. I knew it would hurt the characters and break their hearts.

The beginning of the book was great and so was the middle. I loved Kyland as a character and O loved seeing the relationship between him and Tenleigh develop and grow. I also really like getting to know more about both of their family lives.

I loved almost everything about this book. Except some parts of the end.

There were things that felt cliche near the end. Tenleigh had moments thoughout the book when I was super annoyed with her. But mostly, there was something near the end of the book that bothered me. I spend the last day trying to figure out what it was and I still son't know.

Whatever it was, I can't get over it and that's why the 4 stars. There's no other reason.

Overall, I loved the book and I highly recommed it, along with other books by this author, because she's great.

My Review

I was unsure about picking this one up. I did love Sheridan’s book Archer’s Voice (such an amazing and inspiring read), but, though the synopsis sounded like a book I would enjoy, I was still a bit unsure if I would like this one. I’m so happy I finally decided to read the first chapter because I was hooked!

I really couldn’t get enough of the relationship that built between Kyland and Tenleigh. The intensity and chemistry between them was fierce and undeniable. Though I didn't really understand all of Kyland's thoughts, just on a few aspects (I felt like some of them didn't connect well), I loved how sweet, caring, and selfless he was! My god, he made my heart melt! He truly is a beautiful character inside and out. Tenleigh was such a strong character and I admired everything she did. Though her stubbornness did get to me some, I just loved her to pieces. Their situation isn’t ideal. They both grow up in environments that made me terribly sad for them, but watching them overcome that was so inspiring and heartwarming.

The book flowed nicely, covering how they met, a few years later, and then the epilogue which was amazing and beautiful and I loved so much! The development was nicely done; I felt the story didn't rush in the characters’ budding friendship to their undeniable love. Though how they fought their emotions for each other made me a bit annoyed, I loved how they always thought about each other first. The pacing was just to my liking and I felt everything built nicely. I also loved the environment, the setting, that the story took place. I felt Sheridan did a great job at capturing the world that Tenleigh and Kyland both grew up in.

Kyland was a beautiful story of enduring the impossible, overcoming situations that want to hold you down, finding love when you don't expect it, and realizing that everyone deserves a chance. I felt so much for these characters; my heart ached for them and rejoiced with them. I'm so glad I picked this one up because it was a wonderful read.
