This collection is very personal but allows enough space for the reader to flex into the words and still get some meaning from them. I found the recurring kitchen/cooking images refreshing amid the heavier themes of race, gender, and disability. These pieces are all very thoughtful and emotionally charged. You can feel the author’s vulnerability in all of these words.
