I liked this book significantly less than The Selection. I don't feel like anything really HAPPENED. It's a constant back-and-forth of America playing with the hearts of two men. Does she want Aspen or does she want Maxon? And while she's not sure who she wants to be with, she gets all pissy whenever either one of them shows any interest in another girl. It was extremely trying on my patience.

We do see a little more about the family dynamic of the Schreave's and Maxon's relationship with his father, the King, but overall I felt this was just a 'filler' book. A bridge between The Selection and The One. It seemed unnecessary though. This book could easily have been shaved down to fit into the the book before and after it. I hope The One is a little more exciting than this installment was, cause I'll be pissed to have invested so much time in this if America STILL cant figure out what the hell she wants.

I was so hooked with this book! I think the story could've been better, the whole (SPOILER ALERT) "I like Maxon, I don't want to be a princess, I love Aspen, I like Maxon, Aspen is with whom I'm meant to be, I want to be a princess, I can't be a princess, I like Maxon, I'm so jealous" *while kissing both of them* situation gets so annoying! But overall the author got my attention, is a good story and a great read, I really got into the book to the point where my heart was beating so fast by the end. #TeamMaxonForever

I'm having a hard time understanding how she can't decide between August and Maxon but I am along for the ride.
