In the first Lex book, you find out that a) witchiness is hereditary, and b) Lex is a super powerful witch but c) she was adopted and until recently she had no idea about her witchy background. In this book our author starts explaining where Lex came from. Plus you get fun facts about Denver cemeteries.

4.25 stars. This book was great - and I still want more. I found the Old World fascinating in the Scarlett Bernard series, but Lex takes it to a new level. She just so great - a legit warrior, has fascinating magic, is smart, can actually pick one boyfriend, has both male and female friends including the cool ghost madame and guys who have been attracted to her, she isn't constantly doing stupid things.

I really like the cast of characters in the books and am kind of sad to go back to Scarlett after this... but hopefully she has grown up since the last series.

uhhh real rating 3.5?

Boundary Born had it's ups and downs with me. Whether it was disliking certain characters or everyone.. or idk.. not liking the book. Lex, basically Nancy Drew at this point, is on a mission to find out who the hell is poisoning the vampires. Of course, no one else can do this job or whatever so - yeah, let's do this thing.

One of the twists was finally meeting her birth dad, who was a douche. I don't think I was supposed to like the guy.. but just wanted to mention that I despised the fella. Her past was probably the only thing that kept me interested in this book because everything else was meh. The pacing was slow for me and I kind of just wanted this book to be over with.

Another thing I liked about this book/series.. was the lack of love triangle-ness. It was amazing to just ship one couple.. and to have no drama with it. No anxiety or whatever. Quinn and Lex forever. I was very happy with the ending because of these two but I kind of feel like this book was missing something. Whether it was characters that would spice this book up.. or I don't know.. more romance or action? I liked the book.. but I wanted to love it.

Overall, I probably should finish the scarlett bernard series since this was the spin off - lol sorry for going out of turn but these audios were a lot shorter than scarlett's! Plus, I only have the last book to dive into and that will hopefully make my work day tomorrow go by a lot quicker.

A lot happens in this book. Lex's long lost father turns up and wants to start a relationship up but lex feels something's not right.
This book has a lot more action and sevens a lot quicker than last book.
Really enjoyed this book and I hope with ending a lot more happens with her magic in next book.

Boundary Born has been in my TBR pile for awhile. I'm always telling myself, 'Oh, it'll be the next book I read.' But something would always come up and it'd get pushed back again and again. Why? I have no idea, but I'm so mad at myself for taking so long to read it! The first two books in the series were awesome and Boundary Born was just as good-maybe even better than it's predecessors.

Even though it had been awhile since I read the previous books, I had no trouble jumping right back in and remembering everything. I dived right into this book and read as fast as I could. It was super interesting learning about Lex's biological family and more about her boundary magic. The plot moved along quickly and there were quite a few twists and turns that I didn't see coming. Now that I've finished this series, I really need to go back and read the Scarlett Bernard series. I'd highly recommend this series to anyone who loves urban fantasy!
