I started reading this because it's being made into a Bong Joon-ho film. The overall story is fine. It feels very light in terms of interesting sci-fi elements. I want this genre to challenge me and make me learn something new or at least make me think about things differently. This didn't teach me anything. The concept was unoriginal, and the characters felt really unrealistic and way too horny.

Fairly close to the movie with some minor changes. It may not be the popular opinion, but I think I enjoyed the movie more.

I just wanted more from this book. It has so much potential and I liked aspects of it but I feel like it just wasn't that funny or it wasn't really that much of a science fiction book. It was kinda boring and the description was more interesting that the actual book. I didn't hate it at all but it wasn't my favorite.

This book has stuck with me on a deep level I wasn't expecting. The themes of immortality, self-discovery, and survival on a hostile alien planet grounds you in Mickey's world and his struggles as he faces life as an Expendable.
