There was a part, maybe 2/3 through this book, where I thought to myself “holy crap how many more pages of Mickey eating sludge for breakfast am I going to have to read before we get to any sort of point??” and then I ended up staying up until 1:30 in the morning that same night because I didn’t want to put the book down to go to sleep. It definitely feels like plot moves slowly for a long time and then escalates very quickly at the end, but it’s good.

Enjoyable read! Always takes me a bit to get into first person POV, but once I did, I finished this pretty quickly. I felt at times that this was a short story or novella that had been padded in order to get to novel length, as there were definitely parts that slogged. I really like that we got more interactions with the creepers in the book than in the movie.

Okay also not to be rude but someone reviewed this saying that they’re “pretty sure the author is a Zionist because of a very random Krav Maga mention” and I don’t think that reviewer knows how to actually read because less than a hundred pages after that “very random Krav Maga mention,” the author directly calls what the humans are doing to the creepers genocide:
“So that we could have committed genocide before putting any of ourselves in harm’s way” (pg246).
Like I don’t think it was a “random mention,” I think it was purposeful.
