The Secrets of Isoria is a YA fantasy novel that follows 16 year old Orion Candor who discovered she is a sorcerer. She is thrown into a world of magic and mystery and must uncover her family's dark secret and solve the mystery around one of their deaths. She also must train her powers and study at an elite, hidden elemental school of magic.

I found this book to be SO good. It puts you in the story immediately and has great world building. Aspects of it remind me of Harry Potter and I am glad to fill that hole. The characters are all unique and feel very believable. It has been awhile since I have read a YA novel so that took a bit of getting into, but once I sunk into it, I really did!

The surface plot is she is studying at a school of magic. I love that there are four schools for the different elements. You can take a quiz on the author's website to see what you are! I got water. I also enjoy the mystery that sort of unravels throughout. It definitely kept my interest! And of course, an incredible plot twist at the end!

This author did an amazing job of capturing the feeling of a fantasy YA book that we all grew up on.

i enjoyed a lot of the ideas and themes behind this book! i would say it’s definitely more young adult. i appreciate the way the main character was able to learn and grow throughout her journey but there were parts that were so wishy washy that she just trusted people or didn’t and then forgave after one apology. i found the main characters inner monologue a little bit annoying but still really enjoyed the world that was created and the betrayal and ending of the book could have started much earlier that would have roped me in a bit more

This book was really good! I loved the feel of the hidden magical world and the magic schools. And that cliffhanger ending! I’m so ready for the next book and I’m also dying to know more about Celeste., she’s very suspicious. I want more Alec and Orion scenes too

I’m sorry, the CLIFF HANGER?!?

I did not realize that this book wasn’t a standalone, and needless to say, reading it on kindle unlimited I was shocked when I finished the last chapter and there was nothing else.

This book is a play on Harry Potter but with elemental magic like from avatar the last airbender. It was more violent and mysterious than I was expecting but I loved every second of it.

I was so excited for this book after finding it on booktok and i did enjoy the read! The concept was so interesting and I thought it was done well. The world building was detailed enough without being an overwhelming high fantasy. I did feel the writing was repetitive at times with information. I love the slow burn romance we are given. I understand wanting to end this book on a cliff hanger, but this did feel rushed. I think it could’ve used another at least 20 pages
once the “betrayal” happened and she found herself with her mother.
I will definitely be picking up a sequel and excited to see the authors writing grow!
