Probably the best, most original fantasy I’ve read in years. Wow. This book deserves all the awards it has gotten and more.

Pernah ga sih ngerasain perasaan kayak "gue ga ngerti, tapi gue cinta buku ini!!" inilah yg gue rasain sekarang. Mungkin krna masih awal juga informasinya tuh msih pecah pecah. Tapi JUJUR, SECOND PERSON POV tuh beneran bikin gue ga bisa berhenti baca!!

1. Tokohnya punya kharisma yg kuat! Aku bisa attached ke setiap karakter
2. Stiap pov punya jalan cerita yg berbeda dan selalu menggantung di akhir bab, bikin aku pingin terus baca!
3. PENASARAN BANGET INI 3 CHARA UTAMA PEREMPUAN INI, AKAN KETENU DI TITIK MANA?!! 😳

Aku sampe 85% progress masih hah hoh hah hoh. Pas ending 💥🤯

Awalanya aga lama, u/ orang yg gampang nyerah krna belum terbentuk ceritanya di awal tuh pasti bakal challenging bgt buat bertahan tapi emang sih segitu complex dan di makin akhir makin sempurna worldbuilding nya.

Wow. My experience with reading science fiction is very limited. I developed a thirst for giving it more of a chance after reading Flowers for Algernon, but perhaps diving into a series revolving around marginalised partial-humans who can control cataclysmic events via their telepathic-like connection to stone would've been a step too far. Wrong. I loved it.

Jemisin said that she nearly gave up writing this book due to it being too overwhelming. I understand that, as what she was able to pull off in this novel is quite remarkable: Building a dark and desolate yet easily-imaginable world, long form character arcs, personable connections with sub characters, compelling plot twists, creating a unique language and history. All this while delivering the story in an engaging, well paced and even humorous way.

Quite remarkable really. I have to give this book 5 stars, giving it anything less feels morally wrong.

There’s magic, mystery, adventure, a plot for revenge. This is a great book, I love the magic system, there’s a couple spicy scenes. I love it all N.K. Jemisin may be my favorite author.
