Lana and Sean were so cute. literally the definition of second chance and enemies to lovers!!! The chemistry that kept building up even when they kept denying it was unforgettable. OMG the bar scene made me swoon! Especially him whispering in her ear! LIKE SIRRRRRR WHISPER IN MY EAR TOO <3

It was cute overall, it really helped me work through my own breakup that I have been dealing with. It's a short and easy read, and nothing too serious.

4.5 ⭐️

I was going to give this book 2 stars until the ending because it was really sweet and relatable in many ways.

2 stars because it just was so kitschy. The dialogue was not very flowy and just overall bleh. I was embarrassed for the main character because she was mostly insufferable.

These rom-com books are not for me but they are the best for traveling because it passes time and you don’t need to be too invested.

I really liked the premise and I think it was written and worked really well. With that being said, there were a few moments where the tension was there but the narrative depth was not. I would have liked a little more of the main characters’ past incorporated in instead of them just telling the audience and the side characters analyzing it for them. It felt a little lazy on the characters’ part especially for both going to therapy during the story. Seth’s attitude didn’t match his feelings in the beginning. Also, everyone was lowkey mean to Lana. I would have liked to see more: fallout with the failed proposal, acknowledgement that Lana is not to blame for her past relationships (besides the reunion snafu), and explanation about why it’s been such a sex drought for Seth. It would have been great to find out that he hadn’t actually being having a bunch of one night stands.

The use of the work competition trope to show how abusive and manipulative it is was phenomenal. Both characters’ discomfort was so well developed and displayed without them saying it. *note this is why I tagged it with misogyny because I felt that’s what described it best*

While I have my critiques; the only thing that really took me out of the book from time to time was the multiple MCU references. It felt like I walked into Torrid/Hot Topic circa 2018.

The first Falon Ballard book I read was published in 2025 and now I’ve gone back to the beginning. Having read her first right before this one, I can see her begin to develop was a writer and look forward to continuing to read her books to watch her grow to where she is now.

Loooved this second chance romance! I absolutely flew through it. Characters were very fleshed-out and their adventures were so fun.

The Marvel references, while corny, were not book-ruining (high praise from me, who has an extremely low tolerance for when the nerd factor takes over)

I love a good purple book! always a win for me <3 I had some expectations regarding this one, but was still cautious. but no need, it was amazing! really enjoyed the story of Seth and Lara's relationship.
curiously, I really enjoyed the writting. I felt it was very sweet and light and airy… if that makes sense xD it was enjoyable to read and I am curious to see how it would work with another story and depicting different characters.
Seth and Lara were, surprisingly, very similar characters in my opinion. not in the sense that the author wasn't able to differentiate them, because she was (although I wonder if she could've done it still if we had Seth's POV) but because they are close in personality. they both love writting and are very passionate about it. they are loyal to those they love and have harboring feelings FOR 12 YEARS. they believe in doing the right thing, they are dedicated and they are funny. that's probably why they work so good as a couple and why they held on to each other all this years.

This is the first book from Falon that I’ve read. I loved it. It’s how to lose a guy in ten days in this second chance romance.
I can’t wait to read more from her!
