I'm in rural England at the moment and I figured this time of year is the perfect time to sit down and read some Dickens. Ultimately a good read albiet a bit slow in the beginning, a bit hard to read at some points, and really bloody.
Through all of the melodrama and moralistic prodding, somehow this story still speaks to me. Maybe it’s just my memories of it from when I was a child, but I have a true fondness for this story in my heart.

i remember this was a required reading for school and i dreaded it and was CONVINCED it was gonna be boringggg bc thats what reading a classic meant to me then lol. perhaps its bc i had such low expectation but i came out of it just rly blown away. this was the book that rly opened my eyes to the genius of classics. probably marks my coming-of-age in terms of reading lmao
As always, an exceptional read. Certainly one of my all-time favourite books. When I come to the end of it, I always feel that those last two sentences captivate and move me in a way that nothing else can. Above all things, this book speaks of selflessness, compassion, love, and doing the right thing, at all costs. Dickens is masterful and lives on in such timeless classics as this.
