I'm getting bored due to slow pace I guess. But that's a documentary of someone's life and as I skimming, it's a happy ending so.

While I mostly enjoyed this, I was really unimpressed by how much Grisham brushed away Ron being repeatedly accused of r*pe or SA by different women. One can be guilty of plenty while still being innocent of a crime they are being framed for. Grisham definitely seemed to write these accusations off as false... but false accusations of SA are extremely rare. Ron may not have been a murderer, but I was pretty disinterested in seeing him as entirely a victim of the system given his numerous other failings. Dennis would have been a much more sympathetic 'main character' to deep dive into.

This true crime story examines the botched investigation and trial surrounding the brutal rape and murder of Debra Sue Carter. Ron Williamson, a former minor league baseball player, struggles with mental illness and substance abuse, earning him a troubled reputation in his small town. Despite his innocence, Williamson becomes the prime suspect, and a series of police and judicial errors lead to his wrongful conviction and death sentence. This case highlights the devastating consequences of poor mental health support and the flaws in the justice system that can lead to wrongful convictions and misconduct behind bars

It was amazingly sad that such horrible verdicts can happen in the USA. So sad, I'm glad John Grisham wrote this book.
