I'll admit to being a bit hesitant to read this installment of the Space Team series. RETURN OF THE DEAD GUY was really out there and missed the mark a bit, so a time distortion story made me really nervous because there's so much potential for time travel to really get wonky. But I found this book to be incredibly well written and interesting. Like his prior book (PLANET OF THE JAPES), this book feels like huge leap forward in the author's writing ability... almost like he was trying some things out in RETURN OF THE DEAD GUY, didn't quite get it right, but took 100% of all the right lessons from the experience and make his subsequent writing markedly better as a result. This is one of the stronger books in the series, and even though I'm eight books into the series, I only find myself more and more excited to read on.

Another enjoyable outing from Cal & his gang. It’s never all that clear what his objective is, but it’s how he does it and bumbles through that is enjoyable and fun.

You will need to have read the previous books as a few characters from previous stories turn up at the end.

06/17/2020 Notes:

Rating Raised from 4 to 4.5 - Round Up to 5

Phil Thron is great! The outtakes are goofy & pretty much Phil laughing himself silly because of Hutchison's word twisters. =P

- Cal becomes a bit more responsible.
- Splurt is amazing. Wonder if we'll ever learn how old it is?
- This is one of the few series where the mix of dick/ass and bathroom humor doesn't turn me off the story. It's actually funny sometimes! =P

Things really go awry and yet it still is funny.
