“Women should value other women, even if society often did not.”

I loved the idea behind the story but not the story itself. For some reason I felt very disconnected to this one in particular, which I’m guessing is because it’s co-written and the characters don’t feel like they usually do when only written by Cassandra Clare.

I do appreciate the representation, I adore Anna and the whole tlh crew and OH MY GOD my children Cecily and Gabriel grew up to be such good parents I’m proud.

We mostly follow Anna Lightwood in this Novella. I found her character interesting to read about and I really loved the library scene with James and the last Scene when she was talking to her parents. I know a lot of people are really going to love her relationship with Adriane, but I didn't really see the chemistry and was quite amused when they declared their love for each other after meating literally once.

A cute story, but a bit boring, there's not much to it. The ending kind-off saved it, and that beautiful writing oh my.... <3

Story 2 in the book. Basically Anna's coming out story. I loved it wow!!! The end had me bawling like a baby, I was so happy for her that she was finally able to become herself, that Cecily and Gabriel were nothing but the best parents any gay, gender queer child could want. How Cecily spoke to Anna made my heart burst and also sad bc I knew it was something I wouldn't have with my own parents. I was SO beyond happy for her and was really sad for me while reading this. I cried heavily for both reasons. It was also so sweet and sad to read her in her room, being herself and imagining the freedom of being out, it was very relatable. Everything in the chapter was just so precious to me.

I really enjoyed this novella. After what I found to be a slow start I was quickly invested in Anna Lightwood’s story. She is so badass and I’d love to learn more about her – and that’s not something I usually find after reading a novella about entirely new characters in the Shadowhunter Chronicles.
