In a world essentially like ours, fairy tales are real. Henry is a Snow White, trying to avoid activating herself and fully giving in to the almighty narrative. She's the leader of a misfit gang of found family agents, including my personal fave Sloane, an Evil Stepsister in waiting. I understand where other people are coming from with the frustration re: repetition of exposition, but it honestly didn't bother me that much. It made sense since Indexing was released serially first, and while I agree that a bit of editing could have made that a bit more seamless, I also don't know what the scope of repackaging it was and again, it didn't really bother me that much. Overall, I guess I'm just a sucker for anything fairy tale adjacent, and am willing to forgive a lot if I had a good time while reading it, which I very much did for this one. Even when it's not a slam dunk, Seanan McGuire just never misses for me.
Minor: Transphobia
