Overall, it was a very entertaining murder/mystery on board of a cruise ship story. The writing overall is pretty good, but I didn't feel as connected to Violet and Maud as much as I did with Robin and Edwin.

It started out as rather boring. Thought I was going to have to slog through to be able to get to the next book. But once the villains were revealed, things picked up and I had more fun with it.
I do have a hard time keeping all the characters in order. So many relationships that are there for plot rather than any meaningful character interaction. And the setting causes everyone to be called predominantly by their last name, which I have difficulty keeping track of. I'm sure this is mostly a me-problem. But I do not know who is being talked about half of the time.

I liked this less than the first book but it was still fun, if I remember correctly.

Okayyyy I really liked this 2nd book with Maud as one of our new main characters. She really intrigued me in the 1st book so I'm happy we got to see her story as well.

I was a bit confused in the first chapters, we get thrown in a situation with Maud on a boat with a magician, I didn't really understand who the latter was untill a bit later.

The new side characters were fun to read about, although the amount made it hard to differenciate/remember all of them.

I loved Violet and how you never know what to expect from her. She's cunning, mischievous and compliments Maud really well. Her character was very complex, with quite a dark/sad history that made me appreciate her character even more. She and Maud were a great pair in my opinion!

Yes, it's a fast-paced almost insta-love romance, but considering the whole story is set in such a short amount of time, you can't really have it be a slow-burn. Even so, both women helped the other so much with their troubles and such, so it felt real and believable enough to me.

This might be one of the best WlW spicy scenes I ever read. Considering I don't read contemporary, and YA is mostly where I read past WlW books, I don't have many spicyer ones in my read shelf, but even so it was not just basic and didn't feel rushed like it sometimes feels. Maud wanted to explore her feelings towards women (both sexual and intimate) and Violet was patient and enthusiastic with the opportunity to be the one Maud does it with.

Already started volume 3, time to keep at it!
