Maybe I would enjoy this more in a different mood. The second story did hold my interest better than the first one did, but I also haven't picked this up in weeks and haven't missed it.

It’s dated (first published 1899) and I would avoid the tale about the North Pole for its racism if I could warn my past self, but I love dragon stories (esp folktales and myths) very much. I really enjoyed the final two stories. The illustrations are also quite good.

When I first suggested this book Aoife wasn't sure - she claimed not to like books about dragons (I know, with her DNA there is NO WAY she doesn't like books about dragons). But she went through a big E Nexbit phase this summer and I knew she would like it so I insisted and was proved right as usual. Halfway through the first story she loved it! Good stories with a not-taken-too-seriously-moral to them, like this sort of uncomfortable adventure is what happens to children who do not do as they are told.

Read this for work. Cute little fables but repetitive.

Adorable vintage fairy tales

Very cute fairy tales all involving dragons. I love the sass of old vintage children’s books and this one has the ring of Winnie the Pooh to it.
Probably best for 5-9 year olds
Very fun!
