Okay, what an ending!
I admit that this book was a challenging book to read at times (and yet I stand by the 5S rating)!
The interludes to other people and periods of time confused me, and had me rubbing my head sometimes. But, as such a master writer, Jemisin pulled it off in style!
By the last pages, all of the pieces (some physical and some metaphorical) really did come smoothly together to an epic culmination worth of all the hype for this hugo-award phenomenon.Topics such as self-identity, loyalty, treason, family and much more are dealt with very elegantly. At the same time, Jemisin didn't beatify the world for us, because it's complicated and tough out there in this crazed fast-paced reality.
All I can say is that the characters are fantastic, the world-building is jaw-dropping, and this trilogy was refreshing both in concept and in practice. I hope to read more of Jemisin's future works, as well as those of other unique SF@F authors.

An impressive fantasy series, which finally answers lingering questions about its world in this last installment. While I'm not in love with the revelations about the narrator in this one, I do appreciate the elegance in the writing throughout the series and the thoughtfulness that went into the mode and manner of the storytelling--a treat I'm not used to in genre fiction. I'll remember this series for its success in blending diverse, compelling character portraits and its fierce devotion to inventing the science/magic of its world. Well-worth the read.
