This was...okay? It PAINS me to say this was just meh.
The slang and character speech were too try-hard. And the plot was a tiny bit boring. Still written well and I did get a little bit emotionally attached to the characters but I just found myself not really caring what happened.
Jay Kristoff is one of my favourite authors and in attempt to read his backlist I picked this up but sadly just not for me.

It’s definitely a 3.5 /5
An enjoyable easy read that’s fast paced.
Don’t like the unbelievable romance wielded into the story and the parts Kristoff tries so hard to make it funny.. but otherwise a very enjoyable story this far. :)
I didn’t see the last plot twist :)

Well damn but was that a rollercoaster ride. That ending was just...wow. I NEED book two. Just...WOW. Poor Evie. Just...damn. Kristoff really knows how to hit you with the plot twists, not to mention the heart wrenchers. I'm fricking shell shocked, man. I NEED BOOK TWO! Agh! Stupid (but, like, holy shit!) cliffhangers!
Okay, so this book is in my top ten of the freaking YEAR. I have no words. Actually, I have a lot of them, who am I kidding?
This book was incredible. I LOVED it. Lifel1k3 is basically a futuristic Anastasia retelling - but not quite. While the basis of the story comes from there, it firmly its own book, and takes some damn incredible twists and turns.
The imagery and prose in Lifel1k3 were amazing. It's very vivid, both in terms of setting and in terms of character relationships. Emotions were felt strongly, never gentle breezes, but punches to the gut that left me gasping for air. I could really empathize with all of the characters, and I loved getting the different perspectives towards the end. I loved how close Evie was with Lemon, Cricket, and Kaiser. I still ship her and Zeke. I also liked the past-present back and forth throughout the earlier chapters. It's very nicely done. It's all incredibly well written, and I am in love with this book.
Look, I basically loved everything about this book. The prose is some of the best I've ever read. You feel the characters' emotions like they're your own. The setting and story are unique and exceptionally well written. The romance is beautiful and heart wrenching. The friendship between Lemon and Evie was heartwarming and awesome. I liked Cricket and Silas. I want to knowmore everything about all of those revelations at the end. I am just...in love.

5 STARS! READ THIS BOOK!
➸ 3.5 stars
Pros
- friendship among the characters
- fast pace
- surprisingly, there are many good quotes in this book which i didn't expect and this is my favourite one💓
“In between the pages, I'm an emperor. An adventurer. A warrior and a wanderer. In between the pages I'm not myself-and more myself than in any other place on earth.”
Cons
- the writing style is just not for me
- romance (instalove) -- but i enjoy each of the characters individually
but i will probably read nevernight nonetheless:)

I ❤❤❤❤❤❤ Lifel1k3
This was an absolute treat to read! Jay Kristoff’s writing and storytelling is so unique, but if you love it then you will love it with the sum of your being. This book was one of the best things I’ve ever read, and I instantly knew it would make my top books of 2018.
The prologue to this book is one of the most heart-filled, heart-pounding, heart-breaking things I’ve ever read. I was instantly captivated and instantly immersed, and even though I was crying, a hand over my mouth, I could never stop reading. The start of every chapter tells more and more (in true Jay Kristoff style), and my heart continued to break and break, but I promise you; this story is so well crafted. I have no combination of words to even weave together to express how smart and seamlessly this is woven together.

I don't think there is ANYTHING that Kristoff writes. He is an utter genius and I will be his trash forever!
