I’m not even sure where to begin but honestly, Mister Kristoff you have done it again! Talk about earth and soul shattering, this book easily tore my every fibre to shreds, before piecing it back together and destroying it!
It’s well known that Jay is one of my all time favourite authors, and this book had long been one that I was both excited and curious about, the premise was exciting and intriguing and the content inside was easily the same, and so much more!
The wait until book 2 is going to be full of speculation, I’m not going to give anything away here because I personally feel like EVERYONE ought to read this book, but ach I will say it was phenomenal every step of the way; and it kept my friend and I on the edge of our seat throughout! There was laughter, tears, shrieks, and I confess I tugged at my hair in anticipation and bewilderment too, desperately wondering what on earth could happen next! This book was filled with memorable characters too, Kaiser was such a precious creature, Cricket was filled with fierce loyalty and Lemon Fresh and Eve are friendship goals!

Kristoff takes Asimov’s three laws of robotics and absolutely sprints with them. In this YA romance feat of imagination, we get iRobot, Bladerunner and Cinder all rolled into one. I’m totally in love with this world and it’s inhabits. Can’t wait to see where it goes next!
The robots took over because they were oh so clever. Sadly, the twists and turns in this book were pretty predictable and I didn’t like the main character that much. And the flashbacks got redundant.
I was going to give this book 4 Stars, until that ENDING. One of the Most phenomenal ending I’ve ever read and I loved it so much!!!
So so so so so good. Please read it.

This book is a mix of Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Mayer) and Humans (British tv series).
This book had some nice humour, the like of which was in the Illuminae trilogy. I enjoyed that, but it was too little for my liking. I LOVED Lemon Fresh, and would have loved it if the whole book were focused on her instead.
There was the insta love kind of romance. I didn't really like this, and wanted to skip past those bits. It was just too cheesy for my liking.
The action was good. I like the way Jay Kristoff describes those scenes. I did not like the slang, and made up words. A little bit is ok, but it felt a little bit much.
I liked Eve at the start, but with the introduction of Zeke, I found her annoying. I really disliked her when she made a certain decision towards the end.
SPOILER
I might have enjoyed the book more if it didn't remind me so much of Humans. The romance was a bit cringy, and the ending has left me not wanting to bother with the rest of the series.
All that aside, if you liked Cinder and/or the Illuminae trilogy, and you like YA, chances are you'll love this book. It just wasn't for me.

Spoiler
She turned her back on Lemon for being an 'abnorm' when all that time she had thought she was the one? What kind of friend is she? And then Lemon still goes after her to save her. That's a true friend. Lemon is the star of the book.I might have enjoyed the book more if it didn't remind me so much of Humans. This is one of those stories that gets better the deeper you get into the story. I thought the beginning started out a little slow, but I was completely engrossed by the midpoint. As the plot continues, the main character, Eve's past is slowly revealed, and it definitely changes things! Although the relationship between Eve and Ezekiel tries to play a large part in the story, I didn't really find their romance to be that cute. Besides that, there were some really great adventure scenes, characters, and twists! I also loved the Asimov-type vibes. The ending definitely didn't let me down. I can't wait to read the next book!
Spoiler
I had guessed early on that Eve/Ana might have been a lifelike, but it was still a shock when it was revealed at the end. I couldn't believe the events in the last few chapters! I hope Ana/Eve isn't actually joining the "bad" side!

A new series from an author that's quickly making it into my favourites list, this seemed like a great entry point into sci-fi for young adults. A lot of robots, a post-apocalyptic world, some compelling characters and all of that young adult romance that I'm rather over myself, but there always seems to be at least one lovey dovey couple.
I'm not a huge fan of the language that's gone all futuristic here, there's a lot of new (but not quite) terminology that's easy enough to catch on with, but did seem a bit over the top.
There was also a bit of drag in the plot (and in my willingness to read) near the middle there, but it was well worth hanging around till the end, where all the plot twists and craziness suddenly culminated into a mad ending that I think leads really well into a potential opening for book 2. Promise to get to reading that eventually.
