I'm reading these books in reverses chronological order for some reason (library availability) and this really felt like the first book in the series. I much preferred the next books in the series but it was still very enjoyable. The characters are so fascinating and I really enjoyed Rabbit's way of telling the stories. I was genuinely sad for Rabbit when Sukai left. I really like his character.

For a book about special significances (artifacts, fortunes, little details), this story is told in such sparing language—the air of mystery hangs on the language as much as the story itself. I was immediately drawn in by the characters and couldn’t put it down til I had finished it. 10/10 recommend. Thank goodness more comes out soon!
