Short, cute, sweet murder mystery, romcom, paranormal book. All my favorites wrapped up in one book. Looking forward to book two!

First book in this series I found on kindle unlimited and what a series it is, 20 books and maybe more to come.
I will be making my way through them slowly.

On first impressions this series should be a good fun read with something exciting happening in each book, this one was all about pepper discovering she a witch and meeting family she knew nothing off.

Everything happens all at once and before long she caught up in being a prime suspect of a murder of one of the wizards in the coven/town. We join pepper and Axel a boy in the town in solving what really happened, all the while pepper is learning f magic and about herself and family.

Little bit of everything in this and looking forward to seeing what the rest of the series brings

Thoughts: This is the first book in a series of paranormal cozy mysteries. The main character, Pepper, is positively perfect in that she has the worst luck possible. In one day, she loses her job, her roommate kicks her out, and her boyfriend basically dumps her. Oh, and her car dies. But she manages to get to the twon of Magnolia Cove where her mother’s family is from. And she meets her quirky grandmother (who wields a mean shotgun), her two cousins (who help her get her first flying frying pan – no brooms for these witches!), and learns to talk to animals. All while she’s under suspicion of murdering a fellow shopkeeper. Oh, and she meets a hunky PI who has secrets of his own. This is a fun, quirky paranormal mystery. The only thing I had a slight problem with – and it is minor – but Pepper claims (and shows us) rather vehemently that she is allergic to animals. And yet, she takes on a kitten and an entire pet shop with no problems at all. Still, I enjoyed the story and look forward to more of the books in the series.

Recommendations: recommended.

Premise was decent, if not groundbreaking but the execution was terrible. Plus, it just was a little too "I'm just a sweet, little southern belle" for my taste.

I used the mystery tag very loosely here. Was this really a mystery that people did not figure out ten seconds after the incident? Is this written for young adults? Maybe that's where my error came in. Very lighthearted with a cute world, though.
