This was the first of Mr. Cussler's books that I've read and it won't be the last. The story had the right combination of action and drama to change things up but to always keep the story moving forward. While I did figure out how the book would end sooner than I would have liked, there were enough surprises throughout to keep me wondering if I really had it all figured out.

I liked how the book developed. Basically there were two stories happening side by side. I somewhat felt it was a stretch in how the two stories connect. Nevertheless, the way how the story developed and the details made it a good read.

This is a "credible" conspiracy, given all the players in Turkish politics (including the descendants of the Ottomans). I enjoyed it immensely.

Took me a while to get in to but I was eventually drawn into the story and enjoyed spending time with Dirk and his merry cast of characters.

Nice read. Lots of action. For some reason I felt like there was a lot of unnecessary fatal violence for antique dealers. The dialog was kind of shallow in my opinion but in general not a bad quick, sort of fun read.

Once again, the Pitt family and their co-workers from NUMA save the world.
Father and children work to thwart the ambitions of descendants of Suleiman to take over over their great-grandfather's empire and start WWIII by destroying the religions relics, temples, and monument of Islamic and Christian faiths in an attempt to turn the sects against each other.
While a bit more disjointed than his previous books, Mr. Cussler successfully twists a tale that I found quite plausible. The ending left me questioning if a joint-display of religious artifacts would be possible, simply because of arguments that would surely be made by high-ranking officials of both sides, the mere thought that it could be possible gave me hope that in the real-world...maybe peace IS possible.
