Fuck Maurice. First and final stories are great. The middle one is okay, not a fan of no punctuation. I am glad it was the shortest.

Rounded up to a 4.

Ranking of the Stories:

1) The Age of Discretion
2) Monologue
3) Woman Destroyed

Book could be renamed "Portrait of a Marriage"

A deeply unsettling read - de Beauvoir is very talented at depicting the things people really think. lost all hope in matrimony.

"Rages, nightmares, horror - words cannot encompass them. I set things down on paper when I recover strength, either in despair or in hope. But the feeling of total bewilderment, of stunned stupidity, of falling apart - these pages do not contain them."

i sat outside in the freezing cold for god knows how long because i was so interested by the last story in this book. it felt so real and vivid, as if i was watching it play out right in front of me.
