*I borrowed this book from the library and listened to it.

Mallory Greenleaf was a very good chess player until her father died when she was 14, at which time, she just quit playing. Fast forward 4 years and her best friend asks her to play in a tournament. She defeats the world champion chess player, Nolan Sawyer - handily and then leaves.

Mallory is then offered a one year scholarship to a prominent New York chess club. Ultimately, Mallory accepts the scholarship, starts playing chess again.

This was a charming book, with a believable storyline. I enjoyed it.
