My biggest issue is the lack of Jewish representation without being a supporting character. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Such a disapointment after reading "The Four Winds". All good historical fictions transport you to the past and you truly believe the events really happened (like "The Four Winds"). "The Nightingale" sounded fake from beginning to end. Which is a shame because the story was inspired by Andrée de Jongh, who helped downed Allied pilots escape Nazi territory. So it doesn't do her any justice. Hannah managed to make the strong women of WWII look weak somehow.

Everything has been manipulated to fit the plot and it seems like a joke. Even the sad parts are treated loosely. Excuse my judgment, but it does feel that an American wrote about a French story for the Americans and for Hollywood. All the clichés are there.

The novel got a bit better after the disappearance of the "decent" Nazi which turned it into a 2-star book for me. Therefore, it is probably a good recommendation for someone who hasn't read too many stories about the French resistance or the life during the WWII.
