An American women’s ww2 Fan fiction. It’s obvious that Kristin Hannah didn’t bother to do much research about the women who’s story she stole to write whatever this mess was or about the war in general. If you can suspend all of that it’s a decently entertaining story.

Slow to get in to but I really enjoyed the majority of the book, especially reading about Isabelle’s character.
Circular plot with a VERY emotional ending (I sobbed).
Multiple parts of the book didn’t make sense (timings wise) and some plot lines were left unanswered.
One thing that annoyed me was that the book was more about romantic love than sisterly love and I wish it focused more on Vianne and Isabelle together. Following this point, I don’t think Isabelle needed a love interest, especially one that was present (physically or mentally) throughout the plot.

This one was a long read, but certainly worth it. It is love, it is war, and it gives you a twist of mystery that keeps you reading each page. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. In short, I definitely would recommend this book, but buckle up for a ride because you’ll feel every emotion right alongside every character. One of the most descriptive books I’ve read with some of the best plot, even if historical fiction isn’t my favorite genres.
