Absolutely stunning and emotional piece of historical fiction. This is my first book by this author and it certainly won’t be my last.

I am absolutely and endlessly wrecked. I will really never be the same after reading this, and in a good way I suppose.

My favorite part of this book was the character development. So much realization occurred, and in a natural, human was too.

Somewhere between a 3 and 4 for me: I’m not sure this book is worth all the hype, but it is good. I sped through it—it was definitely engaging and I wanted to know what happened. Hannah uses a clever frame narrative that keeps you guessing til the end. But I don’t feel that the characters were as well rounded as they could have been. For a book touted as sharing women’s stories in WW2, the two main women leads were a little type-casted to me. Overall, it was a decent read that I liked but didn’t love.

this was really touching and offered a unique perspective on WWII I’d not considered before, but I feel I could have had the same experience with 100-200 less pages
