Requires some willing suspension of disbelief, then it's a perfectly charming little romance/adventure.

This was a good book, though it did annoy me some and why I can't tell you. I could never put my finger on it. I found myself glazing over a few of the paragraphs, but I liked the characters, the story line and the world and information was well conceived and written.

I've never been much for any fantasy and world building novels, but this one was good and fun.

This book is like a more serious Parasol Protectorate, a more racy Sorcery and Cecilia or a more magical Pink Carnation. Unfortunately, the characters in this book aren't as multifaceted and the plot in many ways is more simplistic. If you're into those series, this makes for a fun beach or airplane read.
