wow this blew me away. this is an interview-style mock-memoir that feels SO SO real. it absolutely comes alive in audio format, i think reading the physical book would be an entirely different experience. The way to do service to this creation is to listen to it (i mean, it’s literally interviews! the voice actor cast added so much nuance and emotion. they felt very tangible)
if you’re obsessed with Stevie Nicks performing "Silver Springs" straight to Lindsay Buckingham in 1997 - this book is absolutely for you.
Things that were really well done:
The portrayal of addiction, loving an addict, messy humanness, the lifestyle of rock in the 70’s, the depiction of how some people ‘float through life’ and what that looks like from the outside vs feels from the inside, and most hilariously— the way we all have some revisionist history of the past, made very obvious through conflicting interviews about the same events.

i did not expect to be so moved my this story. it absolutely had momentum and I was really heartbroken by it. throughout this story I saw Daisy Jones as a fictional version of Natasha Lyonne, both the physical description and her young life struggling with addiction.
the highest praise I can give to this book is that it felt so completely real. all the way down to things not ending up how i think i wanted them to. it’s hard to convince myself that it isn’t real, so congratulations to Taylor Jenkins Reid. what more could you ask for?

I dont like anybody, maybe when i have nothing to read ill come back to it
Not sure what to say, because my thoughts are really hard to sum up. I read this book super slowly because i couldn’t read for two weeks because of mid terms. thus i got half way through, stopped, and finished it today. SO technically i read it in two days lmao. this was second taylor jenkins reid book and i loved it. both are so good. this was such an interestingly and well written book and i really enjoyed it. it felt so real and vivid. i was so immersed in the story and the characters truly came to life. i was rooting for every single one of them (except eddie i’m sorry lmao but at least u got ur happy ending). karen and graham put me through it. camila deserved better but was an angel and i’m glad her and billy stayed together till the end. i’m glad daisy got clean and got her happy ending. the fact that julia was writing this whole thing was so clever and i really enjoyed that aspect. if this trope is a book, it’s definitely right person, wrong time. it is also definitely unrequited love. that part really hurt. i cant believe this isn’t a real band. this was a whirlwind. truly fun and an incredibly hypnotizing story.

I was expecting for this to be a 5-star read, given all the hype. Though it didn't quite live up to its reputation, this gets a solid strong 4-stars for me. Unique and believable. I was drawn into the story of all of the characters. Wonderfully fleshed out characters that are so well written that you believe they aren't just figments of this author's imagination.
Heartbreaking, poignant, relatable in a human way. The audiobook was great. Now, if only I could listen to those songs, I'd die a happy woman.
