Very much enjoyed this book. I think it's the first book I've actually read this year and it got me out of a reading slump so I can't complain.

My only qualms are with the ending, purely because I was rooting for things that didn't end up happening and the way some of the characters spoke (the slang felt a little overused as someone who is from there and does speak like that). But aside from that it was a cute read with loveable characters, just a quick and fun, light hearted book.

*I received an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. My thanks to NetGalley and Cornerstone*

Tia can't wait for Aaron, her childhood best friend who she shared a night of passion with before he left for America, to come back to London. But when Aaron comes back, he brings a girlfriend with him.
Tia's friends convince her to try dating apps to help get over Aaron, and Tia reluctantly agrees.
Tia never expected to hit it off with anyone, but she soon connects with Nate.
As Tia and Nate grow closer, Tia wonders if they're on the same page.
Do Tia and Nate want the same thing?

I am not a big romance novel reader, but the blurb for this intrigued me, so I decided to give it a try.
This book is described as a romcom, but I disagree with that as I didn't find it particularly romantic or funny. Instead, I thought it was more about Tia deciding what she wanted in her life - career-wise and relationship-wise.
I found Tia not knowing where her career was going quite relatable, and while I did like her and the relationship she had with her friends and mentor, I don't feel like I got to know her that well overall.
The plot was okay - I liked that Tia was passionate about representation and wanted to write about it - but it did feel like not very much happened, and I did get bored.
The writing style was easy to follow most of the time, but I lost count of the times characters 'kissed their teeth'.
I'm disappointed that I didn't enjoy this more.

Overall, this was an okay read.

Loved this book. Described as an unputdownable romcom, but it's so much more than that. I think anyone who has ever doubted themselves and what they're capable of will relate to this book. For me the situationship side of the story was only a strand of the book and enjoyed that it wasn't a typical romcom ending. Loved the characters and Rumble's writing style. Can't wait to read more from her.

thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the e-arc of this book for review :)

The Situationship was highly readable, and i often found myself thinking about the book and its characters long after i'd finished reading for the day. Rumble perfectly captured the nuances of dating, and as infuriating as it was reading the passages between Tia, Nate and Aaron and their miscommunication (and, i guess more aptly described sometimes as a conscious avoidance of communication), i had to remind myself several times that being truthful is scary.

Rumble depicts microaggressions in various parts of the characters' lives, and chooses to use this platform, as Tia does her own, to show that one game exists for some, while a longer, more arduous game exists for others. i was equally as interested in Tia's career as i was with her dating life.

i'm hesitant to be too critical, seeing as this is an ARC, but i did feel that the writing at times was repetitive, with certain phrases being used a lot. there's also a lot of telling, not showing. with that being said, i think this is a good debut, and i'll definitely look out for the author's future work!

This was such an amazing book to read. Literally the epitome of black brit love. I’m so tired of us and our situation-ships but I’m so happy with the ending. 10/10 defo recommend ❤️

I ate this book up in one day. Such an entertaining first novel by Rumble. I agree with the other review that this could be a show. It kept me going back to pick up the book everytime I had to set it down. I think it definitely shows how dating is when you’re young, possibly just dating period lol and it shows the difficulties of being a young, black woman in the work place when there’s not a ton of representation.
