Listen I’m not opposed to age gap romances on principle, but when no one batted an eye at a 19-year-old saying they’d like to date the 15-year-old character after having only had two conversations with her I knew this book was not for me. Also the internalized fatphobia was very yikes.

I read this series back in high school and felt the urge to visit it again. While older than all the characters now, it doesn’t come off too young. Meade has quite a timelessness to her writing. Adrian was always my favorite in Vampire Academy and he stars brightly in this series. It’s also nice to see expansion of the other characters.

I wanted to love this one a lot more than I did. It wasn't bad, but quite a few parts were bent out of shape to make it fit the story... And I have a huge problem with Sidney having issues with being a size 4 rather than the size 2 she thought she was. It brought absolutely nothing to the story, it's harmful, and it should not have been in there.

Other than that, it was nice seeing Sid, Adrian, Eddie, and Jill again.
