literally nothing happens in this book. he does cocaine and drives around to other people's houses, basically. kind of reminds me of Meursault from The Stranger by Albert Camus if he was an eighteen-year-old boy who was addicted to drugs in LA lol. but Brett Easton Ellis is an amazing writer and could probably write about paint drying and i'd somehow find it interesting so here we are
Three star rating for its cult status and for the several vignettes of brilliance but no more than three because I think I read this too late in life to really connect with it. Short novel though, so definitely worth the read. The opening pages are by far some of the best.

Interesting to recognise styles and motifs that would make it into American Psycho.
Somehow painful and hollow at once.
Reminds me of Girl by Blake Nelson (but jack up the nihilism) or The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum.
