It's Jane Austen and I adore her! A big plus to the gorgeous illustrations.

After reading Northanger Abbey a few months ago, I thought this graphic novel/comic would be great to read here in July for Jane Austen July. I was right! I really loved this a lot and it helped me remember a lot from the main novel as well as upped my overall enjoyment of Northanger Abbey quite a bit. Obviously not a word for word novel, but it captured the main points and events from the novel. HIGHLY recommend esp if you like the original. The artwork was cute and very well done.

It also made me like Henry Tilney more. ;) *swoon* I love a man who can make me laugh (such as the one I'm married to).

I'm so glad I live in a world where Jane Austen comics exist.

I loved everything about this one. It is such a cool idea to adapt Jane Austin into graphic novel form- and Butler totally pulled it off! I loom forward to reading the rest.

Delightful! I'm reminded of all the reasons why Northanger Abbey is my favorite Austen novel.

A fun graphic novel adaption. The interior art is more lighthearted than the cover image but once I got used to it, I quite liked the art. A fun way to revisit a favorite Austen!

more of a novelty than anything else. writing is often poorly adapted to the comic book format, and artwork is inconsistent--each character's face looks different from frame to frame, and you have to keep track of them by clothing and context.

Somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. I wasn’t always wild about the art style, but I still really enjoyed this adaptation.

I've never read Austen's Northanger Abbey, so I can't tell you if this is a faithful representation, or comment on how Butler has adapted the story and characters. What I can tell you is that this is a compelling, humorous, delightfully illustrated graphic novel filled with romantic intrigue, larger than life characters, and witty banter galore.

At 17, Catherine Morland makes her first foray into society by accompanying a family friend to the spas at Bath. There, she befriends two families: the Thorpes, comprised of the effusive Isabella and her insufferable brother John, and the Tinleys, comprised of Eleanor and her extremely dreamy brother Henry. As in any Austen, class issues and misunderstandings create romantic conflict within the circle. That said, what I particularly loved about this story was Catherine's obsession with Gothic novels, which inform her interpretation of various real-life scenarios.

This made me want to read the original novel, not to mention add more graphic novels to my to-read shelf.
