The Advantage: Why Organizational Health Trumps Everything Else in Business by Patrick Lencioni

Good, helpful concise content but not near as engaging as Lencioni’s other books. His usual masterful fables are simply far more engaging than this helpful but less engaging book.

the thing is, we’re reading this as a leadership team but who wants a book just chilling on their goodreads for the three months it takes us to get through? no no, friends — i read it all (also so i could be done with it) (also so i wouldn’t have to wake up at 6 am on the mornings of our review meetings to cram it in)

Main takeaways: building a strong leadership team is important, define your purpose, hold to your values, double down on making your values and purpose clear to others in the org.
Good outline. More of broad strategies than anything too specific.

I heard Patrick Lencioni speak at the Willow Creek Global Leadership Summit and that prompted me to pick up his latest book, The Advantage: Why Organizational Health Trumps Everything Else in Business. I’ve been a fan of Lencioni’s work for a while. In fact, one of his previous books, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team loosely inspired my blog posts in 2009 chronicling the top four most common corporate delusions, and then the fifth and sixth most common corporate delusions.

By far the most compelling, helpful, prophetic, and hopeful book on organizational management.

His greatest hits. Solid book filled with powerful and practical advice on organizational health. The Fables are still my preference.

Very clear and concise. This book had a lot of ideas that are instantly implementable and applicable to leaders in every type of organization.
