I was pleased with The Turning. I thought it was a good start to the series. I absolutely adored Carrie and Nate. The relationship between them was electrified with unbridled passion. Being unable to act upon those feelings made the dynamic of their relationship and enjoyable read.
I loved to hate Cyrus. He is one of those character's that are much needed but you hate them all the same, but without them the novel wouldn't be what it was. This was a great paranormal romance read.
Carrie handles her life being turned upside down pretty well. Being bound to someone that you cannot stand but are inexplicably drawn to would make anyone go insane.
Great character's with an intriguing plot and heated tension made The Turning a thrilling read for me.

1st time- I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! I love everything about it. I loved all the characters. I couldn't put this book down. Wonderful story, great character development and a story you can't wait to finish reading.
2nd time- This book is just as great the second time around. I love the characters and the storyline. I just can't get enough of it.
3rd Time- I really do love this book. When I read it or listen to it on audio it is just as good as the first time I read it. Ziggy and Nathan, just reading their names brings me happiness. I wish more people would read this series.

Daniel calls this my "vampire porn". If you want a supernatural story with "adult" relationships then this series is the one for you. I HIGHLY recommend it and it is SO MUCH BETTER than the "fifty shades" series.

The DNF gauntlet continues to be thrown down this week as this is the fifth of six books I've decided to DNF this week. My luck has been just absolute shit, I swear.
The pacing was extremely weird and rushed and I couldn't connect with anything that was happening nor any of the characters things were happening to. Curses! Foiled again. Better luck next time, Jen! Hopefully the next book of hers I decide to read will be better or, at the very least, I'll be more likely to be in a better mood!

Carrie is a young doctor working in the ER when a severely beaten-up patient arrives and changes the course of her life forever. Turned against her will (and knowledge), Carrie meets fellow vampire Nathan and his ward, Ziggy. Informed that she must join the "movement" or die, she asks for time to think it over. That time is cut short when she meets her maker and his powerful witch groupie. That's when the real fun starts.
The premise of this book sounds a bit cliché, but there's nothing unoriginal once you start reading. The pace is relentless, taking Carrie (and the reader) from one situation to another with barely enough time to fully process how we got there. And while that may sound bad, it adds to the overall feel of the story. Not one scene seemed out of place and the author just keeps throwing amazing revelations one after another.
Be warned: this is not a romance! At all. Do not let that keep you from reading. It is definitely worth it.
An entertaining and fulfilling read, I enjoyed every minute of it. My one complaint is that end seemed a bit rushed. Like the page count the author had in mind was close and she had to set an ending before she got to that point. I usually forgive things like that when the book is as good as good as this one, but for some reason I just couldn't bring myself to award the whole five stars because of it.

I hadn't read this book in 16 years. I picked it up again to go down memory lane and it's crazy to remember most of this story.
I'm always team Nathan even if he isn't emotionally available.
Cyrus is toxic. I hated how Carrie wanted to figure out her feelings for each man. At the same time, I have a better understanding of wanting someone to be good and the meaning behind that. These books are graphic and violent. But I still loved it!
