This book was fine. The writing seemed a bit immature at times and I thought Sophie and Billy’s relationship developed REALLY fast. I didn’t love that the conclusion seemed to be that a compromise between their careers wasn’t possible. But on another note, seeing as how Gi is married to Tom Fletcher from the British band McFly, it makes me really wonder how much of Sophie’s experiences here are autobiographical. The press and people on social media can really be terrible—it’s disgusting.
I love Giovanna's books so much. They make me feel warm and fuzzy and fill me with ALL the emotions. So gorgeous!
This book sounds like it is just a chick lit about an actor and a girl... but it is SO much more than that! There is so much emotion and depth to all the characters and it just had me gripped! I really felt transported into their world!
I'm still smiling and happy sobbing. Oh my goodness, the characters are just so damn gorgeous. The realness of Sophie is so refreshing and relatable, and her friendship with Molly is simply stunning. This book made me laugh, it made me cry... and oh my gosh did it have my gripping the pages for what was next! I felt like I was Sophie's surrogate friend willing happiness for her all the way through, and feeling so much empathy through every event in her life. I just loved it and I'm so glad I already bought the sequel because I can't get enough of Sophie! She's just fab! I loved it!

It's been a long time since a novel has been able to make me really laugh and cry out loud. This novel did both of those in such a charming, heartfelt, and honest way. I found each character unique and heartwarming. It's always so great when you put a book down and keep feeling everything you felt during your reading and this one did just that!
I wanted to love this, but I really didn't. I found both Billy and Sophie annoying. It was sweet enough to begin with, but then they met and it all sort of went downhill from there.
I read the second book in this series first, not realising it was a sequel. I remember enjoying the second book way more.
The main point of tension is the fact that they don't communicate properly. Sophie becomes jealous and resentful after moving to London (letting Billy put his dreams and career first). Then when she breaks down because of an overly raunchy sex scene in one of Billy's movies, he has the nerve to say 'you don't understand acting' (after saying only a few pages earlier that if the tables were turned he would be crazy with jealousy).
I suppose it would be okay for a little bit of fiction, but don't think about it too much. The only bit that really made me feel something was. That was the one thing that felt really genuine.

Three stars because I liked the first half and because I love tearooms, but this wasn’t a good book. The plot kept being pushed away, the main characters were not very believable and were not very likeable (except for Molly), and the dialogue felt stilted. And then there’s the ‘big secret’ surrounding her dad’s death, which keeps being hinted at. It really wasn’t that interesting and shouldn’t have been made so important.
Very much read like a book written by a celebrity because they wanted to write a book and had the right kind of people around them, not because they’re actually good at it.

Let's start by saying that I think the book synopsis at the back cover is very misleading:
uh-oh, Sophie May has a secret, what could it be? DRAAAAMAAAAA!
Turns out is not that big of a deal. I mean, it's a part of Sophie's life but it's not like she is serial killer, for god's sake! Why not advertise this a romantic novel with his highs and lows (in the relationship, not in the novel) instead of trying to grab attention to something else?
Whatever, this is a romantic novel. It's titled Billy and Me. Billy being the charming male lead, of course. It's also about fame and what comes with it and stepping out of your comfort zone (so, life, yeah), but it's a romantic novel.
I love Giovanna Flechter's writing. Both this book and You're the One That I Wantcompletely hooked me in a way that don't usually happens. Her characters are very charming and relatable and even when they act like idiots you can't really stay mad at them. I liked that they grow and changed and I liked that the book didn't hide away from all the shit that comes from being in the spotlight.
Granted, Billy was to good to be true at times but he also did some stupid BS so I guess we're even. And Sophie was a bit annoying at times, I just wanted to shake her and tell her to stop being so hard with herself. She didn't believe in her and couldn't phantom why a successful actor like Billy could see in her and it pained me. But thankfully, the book deals with that in the last chunk of pages and I was very satisfied.
I'll definitely be checking out Giovanna's next book.
