I did enjoy the oneiric qualities of the prose but the darkness metaphors were ultimately overburdened and merely gray, not to mention the cheesy ending. Horribly weak as a "critique of colonialism". Both praised and panned in equal measure a result of the same cause: its standing on the syllabus qua mine for essay topics.
