Just not into it. I do like the overall story, and may come back later, but I’ve paused way too long since the last time I picked it up.

Mild spoilers. There is no relief in this book. It’s just chapter after chapter of terrible things happening to the three of them. It feels like torture porn. Elias really frustrated me.  His POV was just a loop of “I know what I need to do, but I have to do this pressing thing instead”-of course the ghosts got out!  Like what else could have happened? I just finished and I’m exhausted. The last 3 chapters set up book 4 well enough that I’m going to read it though.

It was an alright book. I liked it more than the second book; however, it does nothing new. The series feels forgettable to other books I've read. I'm going to finish the series but it feels middle of the road after how good the first book was.

I’m torn between 3.75-4 cos I liked it more than book 1 but not as much as book 2
I’m glad to say I have overcome my hate for Helene - it just took the murder of half her family for us to get there. But girl if you don’t let that boy in I’m going to lose it
I absolutely hate how much separation elias and Laia have to endure
Elias just doesn’t deserve any of this bro
I’m pleasantly surprised at the twists in this series so far. I thought we were going down the predictable route but every time I try to guess as to what’s going on I’m violently wrong. Glad to see it. The best one so far was thinking cook was the dead demon queen. Grandma was my second guess.
