WOW. okay this book took me Forever to read like more than a week?? which is crazy because this is my favorite book in the series so far. it was hard to read because all of these characters i love were failing over and over again but it was amazingly written. this book is where all of the little details throughout the series come together and there were so many oh moments for me. plus the addition of helenes pov throughout the entire story!! i was hesitant about that at first but it truly added so much. i love a good not so evil villain. and harper!!!!!!!!
okay harper and helene are so cute please girl just be with him also COOK????? i knew there was something going on with her but i did not see that coming. the next book better bring my bf elias back quickly i miss him also im glad the jinn are free i felt so bad for them

my favourite book so far of the ember quartet. helene's chapters are my favourite to read n i loved all of the politicking and war, unpop opinion but i really don't care for the romantic relationships 😭 i know the yearning was meant to cause me pain but i just preferred the other aspects of the plot. the twist with cook had me gobsmacked good job miss tahir. lots of very emotional moments n i hope to see more of laia & helene bonding in the final book love my main ladies sm. eek such a good dark war torn high fantasy series

Truthfully, I don't have much to say about this book. I've really found this entire series to be dragging and while I keep hoping there will be something that hooks me and makes me want to stick around, there isn't. It's really depressing. At the end of every terrible moment, I expect there to be some kind of redemption and there isn't. It just gets worse. I'll be reading the last book to finish out the series, but I can't say I've enjoyed this, which is a huge bummer.

I liked this book a little bit less than the first two. I think it's because we don't get to see much of Laia and Elias together. In the second book, they were together almost the whole time, and I fell in love with their dynamic. I also felt like there was almost too much going on. It was like I didn't have enough time to revel in victories before a new problem was introduced; I felt cheated out of that moment of triumph. It makes sense from a pacing perspective, but the pacing could've been a little bit slower at certain points. YET, the insane plot twists do continue to send me, and I spent about the last two hundred pages of the book screaming.
