This is Volume was great. In these comics we get the back story of how the brothers got into the situation they are in and their trauma. Very moving and just a great read. This is my first manga series and I look forward to continuing! 4.5⭐️

In this volume we got a deep look into the emotional backstory of Ed and Al.
I find it fascinating how much Arakawa can make his readers care for the mother despite how little we know about her.
I'm excited to continue!

This series continues to be incredible. In these volumes (4/5/6) we follow the Elric Brothers as they recover in Central and travel to Rush Valley with Winry. We get lots of backstory as the brother's reconnect with their teacher and learn about how Ed was able to save his brother.

Because of the heavy emphasis on Ed & Al's childhood, we get a lot of foundational world building and explanation of the magic system. A lot of this is communicated through dialogue, which at times felt a little clunky. We've already encountered some dark moments, and these next volumes keeps pace. Something I love about this story is how well the darkness is balanced with hope and in many cases, it is because of the darkness that hope flourishes.
