- - - - ♡ Hunting Adeline
Rating Overall: ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆

So after being a HUGE fan of Haunting Adeline, I was severely disappointed with 'Hunting Adeline.' I went into this book knowing
that Adeline was kidnapped and put into human trafficking and thus that meant there would be some time spent on her time in the house.
But what I did not know was that this part of the plot was going to be the MAJORITY of the book. While the writing itself was fantastic and I did truly enjoy reading about Adeline's
trauma being sex trafficked,
it was just not what I was reading this book for. It's tagged as a 'Romance Novel, Fiction, Thriller, Suspense, and Erotic literature.' which I don't agree with. While the first book was definitely that, this book was far from it. We don't get to see the two reunited until more than half-way through the book and even then--their dynamic was not at all the same. It lost so much of its spiciness and I found myself bored throughout the entire book. I only gave it two stars because I enjoyed the writing and the exploration of Adeline's trauma and how it didn't dance around what was going on too much. I do wish that it wasn't written like,
yeah these last few months I've been raped a lot.
I honestly would have preferred to read at least one or two scenes so I can *really* feel for Adeline like I was there with her--I know H.D. Carlton would have been able to really put me in that room with her. But ultimately it was given so little stars because it felt like I was lied to in terms of what the contents of the book was going to entail.

TLDR; Less of an erotic book, more of developing then overcoming trauma. Less relationship focused than the first book.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

👀Tropes: Dark Romance (really dark) with revenge, sex with interesting objects, and much much more.

☠️CW: Straight from author's website - Warning: This is a dark romance that contains rape, graphic violence and sexual assault, explicit sexual situations, strong language, human trafficking, PTSD, and kinks such as degradation, knife play, blood play, and somnophilia.

📚Read Method: Physical book, Kindle eBook, Audible

📕Review: Beginning of book notes... "everything hurts". Every time I read this, I just hurt, even though I know the ending. HD Carlton has a way of writing heartbreak that I will never understand. She throws in these little nibbles of happiness/humor when all things are going to shit. Like chapter 13
Mama T and Z sitting eating chocolate chip cookies when he meets the Basilisk Brothers. It's a small win when this book can make me smile when it's so sad.

Beware of Chapter
18. It will literally break you. and Chapter 22 will tape you back together.

💖Quotes:
"You keep threatening me to marry you, shouldn't I know your last name?"

"My birthday is September 7th" "Doesn't surprise me you're a virgo, next"

"Meadows, baby. Our last name is Meadows. "Yours. Don't get ahead of yourself, your going to have to beg"

PEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS cause this book will NOT be for everyone!

Hunting Adeline was I will admit my favourite book this year to date!
It was EXTREMELY dark and it could be triggering to many. I however enjoyed reading the MFC journey from the dark and violent start all the way through to recovery then onto her final revenge.
I was on the edge of my seat from the start until the end waiting and hoping with baited breath.
Not only did she have to suffer through the unthinkable she also had to fight through her demons to find her way back to herself but came out stronger and by far a fearless warrior for all she endured with the support from the ones she loves. I wish I could read this for the first time again.
