Not sure how to rate this. It has all the components for a good military suspense novel. But something about the writing style slowed down the book. Yet the love shared between main characters was balanced very well in the book. Romantic love scenes we hot but yet a lot of it is suggested so it doesn't turn into erotica. Read the descriptions of the next books. I don't recognize the names of the first 2. Must not have been memorable. And storyline seems identical to this one. But I am looking forward to Kevin and Lucky ' s story.

It was a great read, but I have to be honest - if I knew it was more suspense than contemporary romance I wouldn't read it. It's just not my cup of tea and maybe it's the reason why I felt lost at the moments.
But if you love friends-to-lovers books, even if it is suspense, go for it.

This book just wasn't for me. I don't know why, but I couldn't get into it. I was very meh about the characters, I wasn't that keen on all the different pov's, I was meh on the story line, & I didn't find it to be a hot & sexy story at all. I didn't even fine the 'supposedly hot guy' hot. I even found the sex scenes to be bland. At times I would just skim pages just to get through the book faster. I feel like the characters had potential to be these really awesome, well developed characters, but they just fell short. I seem to be in the minority though about how I feel about this book. So, you may or may not like it.

This was the first book I read by Lynn Raye Harris. I really enjoyed it. The suspense was excellent and believable and the chemistry between the two characters was really hot but not over-the-top. I will definitely be picking up the second book in this series.

Evangeline "Evie" Baker gave her virginity to Matt Girard and in it's wake he walked away for ten years and left her to deal with the small town who took notice. Matt has come back for his sisters wedding only to find that Evie is the only one not thrilled with his return.
Evie wants nothing to do with Matt, they had been the best of friends and his walking away from her without a word was a betrayal that cut deep, still does. Matt wants to make it up to Evie and when he finds she is in danger he is right there, however the chemistry they once had is in full force. Evie isn't the type for one and dones and that is all Matt can offer. Will Matt walk away from the best thing that has ever happened to him?
This was good, a bit melodramatic in parts but overall an intriguing story. Matt has his own inner issues he is dealing with, but where Evie is concerned he finds himself conflicted. I thought Evie's feelings were honest where Matt was concerned and it was not a quick your forgiven which appreciated. Would definitely read more in this series.

This is a great start to a new series! Evie & Matt have a complex past that keeps interfering with the present. Lots of intriguing twists and turns in this one. A great read!

I really loved this. It was a cute but spicy read. Will be reading the rest of the series. A lot of books that I have read like this one make the woman weak and vulnerable to make the guy look stronger but this one has 2 strong and capable main characters. There is drama, mystery and it really is HOT.
