This was a 2.something rounded up to 3 for me. I mostly skimmed the last 25% and it wasn't enough to make me want to try more of the series (or more from the author). But it was fine. There just wasn't much to it. I liked Iris's arc - how she came to find enough peace in herself to find home. But Wilder - so much potential in his character, but none of it realized. Ah well. It was a good in-a-pinch weekend read!
From start to finish, I devoured this book. I am living for this story and all that happens in Calamity! I think what I really enjoyed about this one is that there was some level of twisty drama but nothing too crazy. The connection between Wilder and Iris was beautiful. Iris is full of passion and life. I love her character so much. While she is this bubbly person, she also has those emotions to make her relatable. Wilder’s past is emotional and there is some harshness in it but seeing him work through that history with Iris was stunning. I really loved this story and everything that happened in it.

Wilder and Iris will make you believe that even the grumpiest, grief stricken teacher and a totally free spirit woman can find their happily ever after home.
Iris Monroe, social influencer
Never stays in one place, one city, one country longer than two months. A free spirit. Now she’s heading to Calamity, Montana - thus her new hashtags on social media:

Wilder Abbott, high school science teacher.
He’s been hiding in Calamity since his wife died several years ago. Cut himself off from everything. Especially people. But now his best friend has asked him to let his little sister stay in his home for two months while she’s in Calamity. Oh hell no. But Wilder owes Danny. So he reluctantly agrees. And Iris Monroe stirs something in Wilder immediately. It’s complicated because she’s his best friend’s little sister. It’s more complicated because of the guilt Wilder feels about his late wife. And Iris is only in Calamity for two months.
I loved Wilder and Iris page 1. Their banter. Their hidden attraction to each other. Fighting their feelings. Also, the way Wilder is with his students rang authentic for high school science. They get him, his grumpiness and all. And he definitely knows his students, the good and the bad.
Wilder and Iris stole my heart. And what chemistry! They steam up the pages for sure. But. There’s more to this story. More to Wilder’s grief. And what happens if Danny finds out his sister is sleeping with his best friend? All of it is utterly captivating. And then there’s the looming end date of Iris’ stay in Calamity.
Beautifully written, emotional and utterly romantic, with a sensational, chemistry-filled romance, this is a fantastic read, and I absolutely loved it. I couldn’t stop rooting for this unlikely pair. And I couldn’t put this book down. I simply loved visiting Calamity again.

The newest standalone in the calamity standalone series is here! I really enjoyed the audiobook.
The Brood was really light and easy read, almost no conflict or issues facing the couple as they get their HEA.
I will say, I felt like the blurb made it seem like there would be a bit more suspense or grumpiness or something, but it was a pretty low angst, low conflict book.

this series was so freaking cute and i might pass away if this is the last book. i didn’t expect to love that because i wasn’t a huge fan of the tropes but i should know by now that this author never lets me down when it comes to her books. i also loved that there was no third act breakup which i was honestly expecting. they were super cute together yay
