There is a connecting theme throughout these four stories of a terrible recipe for shortbread that is supposed to cause true love, with diminishing returns as the stories go. Tessa Dare's and Sarah Maclean's stories are both enjoyable, but the third story (by Sophie Jordan) ends on a completely ridiculous note (designed to get the recipe to America, where it can play a minor role in Joanna Shupe's fairly silly and unsatisfying contribution).

I’m so glad I finally read this! This might be a book I need to read every year to put myself into the Christmas mood. I loved all the stories. And they were all different enough and had an underlying connection which was fun. I may attempt the shortbread recipe but I’m not much of a baker.
