The book definitely needs a solid edit. However, I was entertained despite lots of things driving me crazy. The main female character has the bravery and brains of a limp noodle, and I was laughing out loud at how she kept saying things were “fine” after nearing getting raped and what not.

One thing that kept me from being “all in” with the romance was Daniel. We read that he visited his mistress AFTER getting married and was annoyed with her not putting out/having emotions. This didn’t give me confidence that he will be faithful to his wife long term and that it’s truly a HEA.

So, so good.

This story was entertaining and good.
Daniel and Eva are forced into an unexpected marriage over a game of cards played by their father's years ago... Can the two find love in the mess that is their marriage?

I missed reading Historical Romances. It has been a good while since I read one. This one was good. I love the simplicity in the story, and truly enjoyed the very well written characters and the action and humor found within the pages.
The author writes a captivating tale.

Noticeable blush level romance describes this best

This was a sweet romance with stupid villains and a dashing hero husband. Don't like the dismissive attitude Daniel takes to Eva's fears, he should've explained things better or offered to have someone tutor her in society ways rather than rely on her friend's advice and basic private tutelage. Bedroom scenes were just above blush level but not graphic at all if that is a worry for some. Overall enjoyed the read.

I couldn't finish this, it annoyed me so much. I understood all the tension in the beginning because of their circumstances, but then there's a guy in her bedroom at the inn, butbher husband doesn't here her panicked cries, but magically appears at his name and then he tells her he's taking her to London and she has nothing to fear because he will be with her and let nothing happen to her and tells her London isn't full of heathens, but then when she comments about the snarkiness of the people of London he says he would have told her that had she asked...and then leaves her alone at the ball enough that she ends up in a waltz with Huxley...and I can't help but feel likes he's an awful "protector" if he keeps leaving her and dragging her into situations where he's not close enough to protect her and not instructive enough to ease her fears. No, I have no respect for him at all. I got 60% of the way through and stopped.

Decent book - the heroine's choices were a bit strange about 3/4 of the way through the book.

How can you be a writer when you don’t know the difference between too and to, and me and I? Ugh. There were so many mistakes I lost count. So many aspects of the story seemed unlikely, forced, and predictable but I maybe would have given it two stars if I hadn’t been distracted by all the typos and grammatical errors.

This was a nice story. Pretty predictable but nothing wrong with that. The only thing that got annoying was the continuity error throughout the book. The author obviously had a different name for the character Claire Belmont because the name Claire Belton or Miss Belton are used randomly within the book. At first it was completely confusing. When it was still happening towards the end of the book it was annoying.

Otherwise, cute story.

The proofreading in the Kindle version was so poor, I had to stop reading it. As far as I got, the plot and characterization seemed good.
