Delightful as always. :)

Charming, funny, and erudite. The second book in The Chronicles of Kazam (Jennifer Strange) series. See my entire review here:

This book, like the first, was quirky and wonderful. The primary problem that the narrative sets out to solve is more understandable and flows better. There's less, necessary, world-building than the first book. Since Fforde did not have to spend as much time world-building, he was above to more fully flesh out the various characters which made the story even more enjoyable.

Quick and easy read. Didn't feel as thrilling as The Last Dragonslayer (stakes didn't feel as high) but still enjoyable.

I like this series. It's Thursday Next Lite. It's not dumbed down at all. It's just that there are only ten intricate and clever plots to unravel, rather than twenty.

The story was the usual bad/good guy battle over money and power, but it was a pretty good story and had some funny situations and comments.

This is the second book of a series, I didn't read the first, but it explained enough from the first book so I wasn't lost. I think it's pretty good and kids, 10-14, would like it.

Book Two of Fforde's Kazam series.

I enjoyed this book almost as much as the first. While we didn't learn much about dragons this time about, we did get to learn more about quarkbeasts. Fascinating creatures quarkbeasts are.

We also learn more about Kazam, more about magic in general, and plenty more about the government.

The only reason this book took longer than a day to get through was I was angry at my own government (at the time of reading the book and writing this review, my government is shut down because a faction didn't get what they want and are throwing a temper tantrum)so reading about another shitty government was fairly obnoxious.

Once I got past that though, I enjoyed it immensely. I look forward to his next installment.

Recommendation: Teens into fantasy and humor.

I really enjoy this lovely little series :) Sometimes you just need a good comfort read.
